Entertainers

Daryl Braithwaite

Daryl first found fame as lead singer of Sherbet, a band synonymous with the 1970’s and having many accomplishments during their long career. Between 1971 and 1978 Sherbet produced 20 national Top 40 singles and was the first Australian band to top the $1million mark in album sales with a total of 15 albums and 30 singles to their credit. Songs like ‘Summer Love’ became the highest selling Australian single in 1975 and ‘Howzat’ was a hit not only in Australia, but also in England and America.

In November 1988 Daryl released the phenomenally successful solo album Edge which spent well over a year in the national Aria chart, peaking at #1 for several weeks. In 1989 it became the highest selling CD in Sony Music Australia’s history, spawning five hit singles including ‘One Summer’ which was written by Daryl and went on to achieve gold status.

In November 1990 Daryl released his follow-up album Rise again proving that he had what it takes to make an album work and both the critics and public agreed. Rise boasted a further five hit singles. The most popular was undoubtedly ‘The Horses’ which held the #1 position on the national charts over three consecutive weeks. The unexpected success of this single led to it being voted ‘Australian Song of the year’ at the 1991 Australian Music Awards.

Experience the formative and flowing years of Australian music with Daryl Braithwaite; known for teen hysteria, international breakouts, multi-platinum albums, extraordinary collaborations, and performing at the sweatiest dives as well as some of the world’s most famous stadiums.

Daryl Braithwaite remains an integral part of the evolution and development of Australian popular music and a must see live on stage.

Wendy Matthews

Wendy Matthews has a reputation as an artist par excellence with a sublime, expressive voice that never fails to move those who hear it.

Both acoustically and physically, Wendy Matthews moves with an enviable minimalism. Her music is an unhurried journey of clean melodies, infectious energy and simple grace. In an age when grunge is thought to be hip and cynicism an attribute, Wendy has proven that commitment to beauty is still not only valid but applauded by the public ear. She has confirmed that such commitment is not a symptom of vulnerability, but the true path of artistic integrity.

This is exemplified by the reality that Wendy’s music is now in more than 1 million homes in Australia – all her albums to date have multi-platinum status.

Wendy has an immense talent and capacity to capture and define a diverse range of styles in her music. She takes songs from every genre and makes them her own, from jazz to blues, from rock to gospel, from soul to outright infectious pop and then, of course, there are the beautiful ballads.

This outstanding capability has ensured the strength of her following – not only with the public but also the music industry. To date Wendy has won seven ARIAS – the all time record.
